Key takeaways
- City Center has two sub-districts Downtown and Corpo Plaza. They are separate map areas, not interchangeable names.
- Corpo Plaza is the corporate heart of the district, dominated by Arasaka Tower, the Arasaka Memorial and the headquarters or offices of several megacorporations.
- Downtown is the more varied exploration area, with nightlife, luxury shops, hotels, restaurants, offices, galleries and waterfront landmarks.
- Dino Dinovic is City Center’s fixer His five base-game gigs are split between the two sub-districts and are required for City Center’s district-completion reward or trophy progress.
- The Corpo lifepath begins in City Center, inside Arasaka Tower, but the lifepath prologue is a separate progression state from the freely explorable district.
- V’s Corpo Plaza apartment is optional post-launch content, added with the apartment update and purchased through the “Welcome Home: Corpo Plaza” activity.
About this guide
Scope: Cyberpunk 2077 base game, including the post-launch apartment content where relevant. Phantom Liberty and Dogtown are excluded. Spoilers: This guide discusses the Corpo lifepath opening, major jobs set in City Center, fixer gigs, NCPD activities and V’s Corpo Plaza apartment.
Overview
City Center is Night City’s central business district and its most visible corporate showcase. It is not simply the area around Corpo Plaza. In the base game, the district contains two sub-districts: Downtown and Corpo Plaza, also called Corporate Plaza or Corporate Center in some sources. Treating Corpo Plaza as the whole district misses Downtown’s hotels, clubs, shops, waterfront architecture and several of City Center’s most important missions.
The district was rebuilt after the Fourth Corporate War and the nuclear destruction of the old Arasaka headquarters. By 2077 it combines monumental corporate architecture with exclusive entertainment, luxury retail and carefully managed public space. Its apparent order is deceptive: Downtown’s alleys and clubs conceal criminal activity, while Corpo Plaza’s security and corporate control make it one of the most heavily protected areas in Night City.
Geography and boundaries
City Center occupies the central portion of Night City. Its skyline is designed to project corporate power: tall, tightly packed towers, hard geometric surfaces, floodlit plazas and restricted entrances. The district’s two sub-districts have different identities.
Corpo Plaza
Corpo Plaza is the formal corporate core. It contains the main Arasaka presence in City Center, the Arasaka Memorial, major corporate offices, high-rise residences and the distinctive plaza spaces that give the district its name.
It is the area most strongly associated with the city’s “corporate showcase” image. Large corporations use the district as a public-facing demonstration of wealth and technological power, while security personnel and surveillance make ordinary movement feel controlled even when the roads are open.
Downtown
Downtown lies within the same district but serves a broader mixture of commercial and social functions. It contains luxury retail, hotels, clubs, restaurants, offices, waterfront sites and less polished side streets. The area’s public image is affluent and fashionable, but its back alleys support drug dealing, prostitution, violence and covert corporate work.
Downtown should therefore be explored as a full sub-district rather than as a minor extension of Corpo Plaza. Its locations include both major named buildings and small businesses that exist primarily as environmental detail.
Boundary caution
Some street signs and map resources use slightly inconsistent labels around the boundary between Downtown and Corpo Plaza. Community map projects have specifically noted disagreements around Ferris Boulevard and the area near V’s apartment. The game’s district structure, however, identifies Downtown and Corporate Plaza as the two City Center sub-districts.

City Center’s role in the story
City Center is important from the beginning of the game, but the player’s access depends on the current progression state.
Corpo lifepath
The Corpo lifepath opens inside Arasaka Tower in City Center. V works as an Arasaka counter-intelligence operative under Arthur Jenkins before the opening sequence turns against them. This version of City Center is not an ordinary free-roam visit. It is a tightly controlled story space representing V’s former corporate life.
After the lifepath prologue, the player can later return to City Center as a mercenary. The open-world district contains different access rules, NPC routines and mission content from the lifepath opening.
Main jobs and story locations
City Center is associated with several important story locations, especially:
The district is particularly relevant to the corporate power struggles surrounding Arasaka and to V’s relationship with the city’s wealthy and politically connected residents.
---
The following directory consolidates the named City Center locations identified in the City Center location category. Names are grouped by the sub-district or function recorded for them. Some are enterable; others are exterior buildings, environmental landmarks, mission locations or named storefronts. A business name alone does not prove that the player can use it as a vendor or service.
Main jobs and story locations
Downtown
The directory above should be read alongside the game map. City Center contains many unnamed towers, signs and background businesses that do not have separate canonical location entries. Conversely, some named entries are not conventional shops and may only be visible as set dressing or become relevant during a mission.
---
City Center has fewer openly territorial gangs than districts such as Watson, Westbrook or Pacifica. Its controlling power is corporate rather than gang-based.
Major corporate presence
These corporations do not all control the entire district in the same way. Their buildings and employees represent competing interests, while private security and the NCPD maintain the appearance of order.
Named characters and associated figures
These people should not all be treated as permanent residents. Some are mission targets, temporary visitors, corporate executives or characters encountered only during a particular progression state.
Ordinary NPCs
City Center’s ordinary population reflects its economic role:
The NPC population changes according to time of day, nearby mission state and whether V is inside an active restricted area. The district’s public spaces are generally busier and more polished than those in poorer parts of Night City, but Downtown’s side streets can be noticeably rougher.
---
City Center is useful for fashion, weapons, cyberware and apartment access, though the availability of stock and vendor inventories can vary with game version, level and progression.
Confirmed named services
Jinguji
Jinguji is a Downtown clothing shop. It is one of the district’s higher-end fashion destinations and is particularly suitable for players looking for formal, corporate or luxury clothing. Its importance is partly practical and partly thematic: Downtown’s fashion retail presents corporate identity as a purchasable lifestyle.
Avante
Avante is associated with Corpo Plaza’s high-end clothing retail. It is a useful stop for players building a corporate or executive wardrobe. The shop’s inventory should be checked directly because clothing stock can vary with level and game updates.
Doc Ryder
Doc Ryder is the named Downtown ripperdoc. Visit him for cyberware-related services where available under the current game rules. Cyberware capacity, operating-system compatibility and other requirements depend on the player’s level, attributes and installed equipment.
Rifles & Pistols
Rifles & Pistols is a Downtown gun shop. It provides a convenient source of firearms and ammunition-related purchases when its vendor interface is available. Weapon quality and stock depend on progression and level.
Medpoint
Medpoint is a named Downtown medical or pharmaceutical storefront. Its presence should not automatically be interpreted as a full clinic or ripperdoc. Services must be confirmed through the in-game vendor interface.
The View
The View is a major luxury commercial location in City Center. It functions primarily as a landmark and environmental representation of high-end urban retail rather than as one single universal vendor menu.
Functional, decorative and property locations
---
V’s Corpo Plaza Apartment is located at Regal Residences. It was added as part of the post-launch apartment content and is purchased for €$110,000 through the relevant “Welcome Home: Corpo Plaza” activity.
The apartment is separate from the Corpo lifepath. A Streetkid or Nomad V can buy it as well. The property is therefore a progression and economy feature, not a locked Corpo-only reward.
Functional, decorative and property locations
| Location type | Examples | Player use |
|---|---|---|
| Functional clothing shop | Jinguji, Avante | Buy clothing where the vendor interface is active |
| Functional medical or cyberware location | Doc Ryder, Medpoint | Cyberware or medical services where available |
| Functional weapons shop | Rifles & Pistols | Buy weapons and related stock |
| Named commercial landmark | The View, Grand Illusion, Cambridge Winery | Exploration, atmosphere or mission context |
| Corporate building | Arasaka Tower, Militech Offices, Kang Tao Building | Story, mission or restricted access |
| Purchasable property | V’s Corpo Plaza Apartment | Buy and use as a player residence |
| Mission-only or restricted area | Parts of Arasaka facilities and corporate offices | Enter during relevant missions or by authorised access |
What to do
The apartment is particularly convenient for a City Center exploration route because it sits near corporate landmarks, Downtown connections and fast-travel access. It is not the same location as the Corpo lifepath’s Arasaka residence or workplace.
---
City Center is easiest to navigate by combining fast travel with short walking routes.
What to do: steps
- 01Progress far enough for the apartment-rental activities to become available.
- 02Travel to the Corpo Plaza or Regal Residences area.
- 03Interact with the apartment-rental prompt or follow “Welcome Home: Corpo Plaza”.
- 04Pay €$110,000.
- 05Use the apartment as a residence and return point.
Recommended access routes
From Watson
Approach City Center through the southern or eastern road connections. This is the natural route for players travelling from Little China, Kabuki or the Arasaka Waterfront. Arasaka Tower’s silhouette makes Corpo Plaza easy to identify, although the surrounding towers can obscure direct road approaches.
From Westbrook
Travel west or south-west from Japantown and Charter Hill. Downtown is the more natural destination when approaching from Westbrook because of its commercial and nightlife areas.
From Heywood
Use the central road approaches northwards. The route brings you towards the district’s lower streets and then into the corporate towers.
On foot
Walking is worthwhile in City Center because many buildings are designed around vertical sightlines. A practical route is:
This route is more reliable than trying to visit every tower interior, since many named buildings are exterior landmarks or mission spaces rather than freely enterable locations.
On foot
- 01Start at a City Center fast-travel terminal.
- 02Visit the nearest named clothing, weapon or cyberware vendor.
- 03Walk through the major public plaza.
- 04Continue towards Memorial Park or the waterfront.
- 05Cross into Downtown and inspect Jinguji, nightlife venues and hotel exteriors.
- 06Finish at V’s apartment or a nearby fast-travel point.
Fast travel
The district includes terminals associated with Downtown, Memorial Park, Arasaka Tower and nearby City Center locations. The exact terminal names and map presentation can differ between the launch version and later game updates, so use the map’s current fast-travel filter rather than relying solely on older guides. Game8’s City Center map guide separately lists Downtown and Corpo Plaza fast-travel coverage.
---
Dino Dinovic offers five City Center gigs. They are divided between Corpo Plaza and Downtown. Completing them is part of the district’s gig and NCPD completion requirements.
Dino Dinovic’s gigs
A Lack of Empathy
This gig takes place at Empathy. The objective is to compromise the club’s subnet. The building supports multiple approaches, including stealth, hacking and direct combat. A careful player should scan entry points and cameras before committing to the main floor.
Serial Suicide
This Corpo Plaza job involves stealing CCTV footage. It is a good example of City Center’s corporate-security design: the challenge is less about finding a target in an open street and more about navigating surveillance, restricted rooms and guarded access.
An Inconvenient Killer
This Downtown assassination gig targets Jack Mausser. The area’s mixed commercial and nightlife environment can make it possible to approach through public space before entering the hostile section.
Guinea Pigs
This Downtown gig targets Joanne Koch and has wider connections to the district’s corporate abuses. Several NCPD activities and messages in City Center help contextualise the wider Biotechnica-related story around her. The target’s building and security layout reward scanning, stealth and careful use of elevation.
The Frolics of Councilwoman Cole
This Downtown thievery gig concerns recordings of Eva Cole. It is another surveillance-focused job, with the objective centred on obtaining evidence rather than simply killing every enemy.
Dino Dinovic’s gigs
| Gig | Sub-district | Type | Main objective |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Lack of Empathy | Corpo Plaza | Agent Saboteur | Upload a virus to Empathy’s subnet |
| Serial Suicide | Corpo Plaza | Thievery | Steal CCTV footage |
| An Inconvenient Killer | Downtown | Gun for Hire | Neutralise Jack Mausser |
| Guinea Pigs | Downtown | Gun for Hire | Eliminate Joanne Koch |
| The Frolics of Councilwoman Cole | Downtown | Thievery | Steal recordings of Eva Cole |
NCPD Scanner Hustles
City Center contains NCPD Scanner Hustles in both Downtown and Corpo Plaza. These include assault-in-progress and reported-crime activities, with loot, experience, money and shards as rewards. Their exact count and presentation can vary by version and map-filter state, so enable the NCPD Scanner Hustle filter before concluding that the district is complete.
Some scanner activities are simple combat encounters, while others require collecting evidence or following a small local chain. They should not all be treated as random street events.
---
City Center’s security is primarily corporate. Public spaces are monitored by the NCPD, while corporate facilities use private guards, cameras, turrets, access restrictions and locked doors.
Practical advice
- 01Clear visible scanner events while working through Dino’s gigs.
- 02Search bodies and containers before leaving.
- 03Read shards when an activity asks you to investigate a body or message.
- 04Recheck the map after major story progression.
- 05If a marker seems absent, sleep or travel away and return, then re-enable the relevant map filter.
NCPD
The NCPD responds to crimes in the same broad way as elsewhere in Night City, but the district’s public image and corporate sensitivity make open violence particularly conspicuous. NCPD Scanner Hustles provide the main repeatable law-enforcement content.
Corporate security
Use the scanner before entering guarded buildings. Mark cameras, identify access terminals and check whether a side entrance avoids a heavily defended lobby. Breaching access points can be more efficient than fighting through every guard, especially on higher difficulties.
---
City Center is not a conventional gang warzone, but it is still dangerous.
The main environmental hazard is restricted access. Entering a corporate area without authorisation can trigger combat or a police response. This is different from a mission’s intended infiltration state, where the same room may be temporarily safe or populated by neutral NPCs.
Downtown adds social hazards rather than purely military ones: crowded clubs, narrow alleys, blind corners and mission spaces where a target can be lost among civilians.
---
City Center is not defined by one large collectible set, but it contains the usual open-world discoveries:
Loot quality is affected by level and game systems, so a weapon found in a named building is not necessarily fixed to one exact rarity in every playthrough. Mission rewards and unique items should be distinguished from ordinary randomised containers.
Do not assume a sealed door is an undiscovered shop. Many City Center buildings are background architecture or mission-only interiors.
---
City Center is Night City’s clearest architectural argument that the city belongs to corporations. Its towers, memorials and luxury developments transform historical violence into a polished civic identity.
The district’s reconstruction after the Fourth Corporate War is especially significant. The old destruction has not been forgotten, but it has been absorbed into corporate branding. The Arasaka Memorial and Arasaka Tower stand near each other as both memorial and active power centre.
Downtown demonstrates the same contradiction at street level. It sells fashion, entertainment and exclusivity while supporting crime, exploitation and covert corporate operations. In that sense, City Center is not safer because it is free of violence. It is safer because violence is managed, hidden or outsourced.
The game also uses City Center to contrast different versions of V:

Progression
---
Is Corpo Plaza the same as City Center?
No. Corpo Plaza is one of City Center’s two sub-districts. Downtown is the other.
Is Arasaka Tower freely explorable?
Not in the same way as an ordinary open-world building. Its main interiors are tied to story progression and mission spaces. The exterior and surrounding area remain important landmarks.
Can every named City Center building be entered?
No. Some are fully functional locations, some are mission interiors, and some are named exterior landmarks or background businesses.
Who is City Center’s fixer?
Dino Dinovic. He provides five base-game gigs across Downtown and Corpo Plaza.
Is V’s Corpo Plaza apartment locked to the Corpo lifepath?
No. It can be purchased by any lifepath once the apartment activity is available. It costs €$110,000.
Why can’t I see all City Center activities?
Check that Gigs and NCPD Scanner Hustles are enabled in the map filters. Some activities also depend on story or fixer progression, and certain markers may appear only after travelling away, sleeping or advancing the game.
Is this guide fully exhaustive for every shop sign and unnamed storefront?
No. The named directory consolidates verified named locations found in the available City Center category source, but the game contains additional unnamed or purely decorative storefronts. A complete sign-by-sign architectural catalogue would require a dedicated in-game image and map survey. The distinction between named canonical locations, functional vendors and decorative businesses is therefore intentional.
