Key takeaways
- Congress & MLK is in Vista del Rey, Heywood, not City Center or Downtown.
- It is served by Lines A, C, D and E, making it a major interchange.
- It is a transport location rather than a quest hub, commercial district or settlement with its own named residents.
- The station is useful for reaching City Center, Santo Domingo, Pacifica, Westbrook, Watson and other parts of Heywood.
- NCART requires the game’s metro functionality from Update 2.1 or later. The official patch notes describe access to all 19 stations through either fast travel or an actual train ride.
- The station’s importance is primarily logistical Do not expect a dedicated vendor, stash, ripperdoc, mission board or unique loot table here unless a separate mission happens to use the surrounding streets.
About this guide
Research note: Metro: Congress & MLK is a named transport point, not a broad explorable district. Its verified scope is the station, its immediate street-level approaches and its role in the NCART network. It should not be expanded into all of Vista del Rey or treated as a synonym for Heywood.

Introduction
Metro: Congress & MLK is one of the most useful stations in Night City’s functioning metro system. It sits in Vista del Rey, Heywood, and connects four NCART lines, giving it more route flexibility than almost any other station. Only the broader NCART network, rather than the station itself, is the subject of the major progression requirement.
The station became an operational travel point with Update 2.1, which added a working NCART system consisting of 19 stations on five lines. Players can use the system either as conventional fast travel or by boarding a train and riding through Night City.
Location and boundaries
Vista del Rey, Heywood
Congress & MLK is categorised as a Heywood station in Vista del Rey. This is the correct hierarchy:
The station name refers to the Congress and MLK streets or avenues that give it its local identity. It does not define the entire Vista del Rey neighbourhood. Likewise, the location marker should not be used as a boundary for every nearby Heywood building, road or activity.
The station is best understood as a compact transport node: the fast-travel marker, the station entrance and the nearby public space around the access point. Any nearby hotel, hospital, road junction, shopfront or mission location remains a separate place unless the game explicitly identifies it as part of the station.

NCART connections
Congress & MLK is served by four lines. The station is therefore particularly valuable when the origin and destination do not share a direct line.
The station is listed as a four-line hub in contemporary NCART route guides, while official CD Projekt RED patch notes confirm the larger system’s 19 stations and five lines.
Practical route planning
Use Congress & MLK as a transfer point when two destinations do not share a line.
This is most useful for journeys between Pacifica or Santo Domingo and locations on the Watson or Westbrook sides of the network.
Line D behaves differently from the ordinary terminal-to-terminal routes because it forms a loop around the city. If the game presents several directions, check the station sequence rather than assuming that the first train is the shortest route. The NCART system does not provide a seamless in-train transfer. You must leave the train and select another route at the interchange.
NCART connections
| Line | General route relevance | Useful destinations |
|---|---|---|
| Line A | North-south route across Watson, City Center, Heywood and Santo Domingo | Eisenhower Street, MedCenter, Farrier & Ferguson, Alexander Street, Sarasti & Republic, Memorial Park, Wollesen Street, Megabuilding H7 |
| Line C | Short route linking City Center, Heywood, Santo Domingo and Pacifica | Memorial Park, Wollesen Street, Pacifica - Stadium |
| Line D | Loop route linking Westbrook, Watson, City Center and Heywood | Monroe & Sagan, Ellison Plaza, Sarasti & Republic, Memorial Park, Glen South, Wellsprings, Glen North, Ebunike, Japantown South |
| Line E | Cross-city route with links through Watson, City Center, Heywood and Westbrook | Eisenhower Street, MedCenter, Alexander Street, Sarasti & Republic, Congress & MLK, Glen South, Wellsprings, Japantown South |
Practical route planning: For example
- 01Travel from a station on Line C to Congress & MLK.
- 02Leave the train at Congress & MLK.
- 03Select a station served by Line A, D or E.
- 04Continue to the destination.
Access and progression
Unlocking NCART
The working metro system was added in Update 2.1, released on 5 December 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The update resolved V’s NCART City Pass issue and allowed travel between all 19 stations.
If the station does not function as expected:
The station is available in the base game. Phantom Liberty is not required merely to use Congress & MLK or the wider NCART network.
Fast travel and train rides
The latter is mainly an immersion and sightseeing feature rather than a separate activity with mission rewards. Update 2.1 also allows V to use the Radioport while riding the NCART train.
Fast travel and train rides: The station supports two different uses
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Fast travel | immediately move to another available station. |
| Ride the metro | board the train and remain aboard while it travels through Night City. |
Nearby connections
Congress & MLK is a transport connection rather than a self-contained activity zone. Its most important nearby connections are therefore the other station destinations it opens up.
Directly useful destinations
These are network destinations, not subareas of Congress & MLK. They should be treated as neighbouring or connected locations rather than folded into this station’s directory.
Station environment
The station is populated by the ordinary visual language of Night City’s public transport system:
No verified evidence establishes Congress & MLK as the permanent residence of a named character, a faction headquarters or a dedicated shop. The people found here should therefore be described as ordinary transit NPCs, not as named residents.
Named entries within the station
No separately named vendor, service, apartment, purchasable property, ripperdoc, weapon shop, vehicle dealer or unique station facility has been verified as belonging to the station itself.

Missions, activities and rewards
Congress & MLK has no independently verified station-specific mission chain, boss encounter or unique reward. Its principal activity is transport.
What players can do
The location should not be confused with nearby missions that use Vista del Rey or another part of Heywood as their actual setting. A quest marker near the station does not, by itself, make that quest part of the metro location.
Loot and collectibles
No fixed unique weapon, cyberware item, shard, tarot card, iconic item or collectible has been verified as belonging specifically to Metro: Congress & MLK. Any ordinary containers, dropped weapons or random encounters found nearby should be treated as local open-world content rather than a permanent station reward.
What players can do
- 01Approach the station’s fast-travel marker.
- 02Open the NCART interface.
- 03Select a connected destination.
- 04Either fast travel or board the train.
- 05Use the station as a transfer point where necessary.
Security and hazards
There is no verified station-specific hostile faction, checkpoint, boss or scripted combat encounter. The main practical risks are ordinary open-world hazards:
Because the station itself is a transport facility, entering it does not normally require combat, a special key or a faction allegiance.
For a first visit
- 01Fast travel to Metro: Congress & MLK.
- 02Look at the station sign and confirm that the map identifies the location as Heywood, Vista del Rey.
- 03Walk around the immediate entrance and street frontage without treating neighbouring buildings as part of the station.
- 04Open the NCART map and note the four available lines.
- 05Take one short ride to Memorial Park or Wollesen Street to understand the station’s Line A and Line C connections.
- 06Return and test a transfer to a Line D or Line E destination.
- 07If you are sightseeing, ride rather than fast travel and use the Radioport to keep the journey in-world.
