Key takeaways
- Embers is in The Glen, Heywood, not in the whole of Heywood and not in the neighbouring Vista del Rey or Wellsprings areas.
- Its principal playable areas are the street entrance, elevator, thirteenth-floor restaurant and club, and the underground parking garage used during the Streetkid lifepath.
- The Streetkid prologue visits the garage beneath Embers, but the restaurant itself is not the focus of that opening mission.
- The late-game main job Nocturne OP55N1 begins at Embers after the relevant Act 2 and Act 3 story conditions are met.
- Passing through the main entrance in that mission is the base game’s principal point of no return.
- The Death Tarot mural is outside the Embers building, not inside the restaurant.
About this guide
Scope: Base game, Cyberpunk 2077. Phantom Liberty content and wider Heywood locations are excluded unless they directly affect Embers. Spoiler warning: This guide discusses the Streetkid lifepath, the main job Nocturne OP55N1, the point of no return, Tarot graffiti and the game’s endings.
Overview
Embers is an exclusive restaurant and club in The Glen, a sub-district of Heywood in Night City. It occupies the thirteenth floor of a solitary high-rise on or near Congress Street, with a large secured underground car park beneath it. In ordinary gameplay, Embers is not a freely accessible social venue. It is primarily a story location used in the Streetkid opening and, much more importantly, in the late-game main job Nocturne OP55N1.
The location’s importance comes from its function as the final meeting place between V and Hanako Arasaka. Entering the restaurant during Nocturne OP55N1 triggers the main story’s point of no return, although the game creates a pre-entry save and returns V to that state after completing an ending. Embers is therefore both a physical restaurant and one of the game’s clearest progression gates.
Boundaries and included areas
For location-guide purposes, Embers should be treated as the building and its immediately connected mission spaces, not as a synonym for The Glen.
Nearby but separate
The following are in the wider Glen or Heywood area but are not part of Embers:
The Embers building is close to Reconciliation Park and sits in the northern part of The Glen. Its parking structure should not be confused with an ordinary public car park or a separate business. It is a secured facility belonging to the venue and is used differently depending on the player’s lifepath and mission state.
Exterior, entrance and routes
Finding Embers
The easiest approach is to travel to the Embers fast-travel point in The Glen and follow the nearby road and entrance signage. The location has its own fast-travel dataterm, making it convenient to revisit the exterior after the relevant point has been discovered.
The public-facing entrance is above the lower garage approach. This distinction matters because some mission markers and route prompts can appear near the lower access road or garage, while the restaurant entrance itself is higher up. Players looking for Hanako should use the marked main entrance rather than treating the garage door as the restaurant entrance.
Streetkid garage route
During The Streetkid, Padre takes V to Embers as part of the lifepath’s opening sequence. V is directed to an elevator leading down to the parking garage, where the objective is to find a Rayfield in a reserved VIP space.
Rick can disable the garage cameras if V speaks with him before entering the parking area. This is a lifepath-specific interaction and does not turn the garage into a permanently available stealth facility.
Nocturne OP55N1 route
In Nocturne OP55N1, V approaches Embers from the street and is checked by security before taking the elevator to the thirteenth floor. The restaurant interior is then used for the meeting with Hanako Arasaka.
Do not enter casually if you still have unfinished side content. The game presents Embers as a point of no return when V enters for the meeting. Make a manual save beforehand if you want an additional fallback beyond the game’s automatic save.
Streetkid garage route: The route is linear
- 01Leave the bar and travel to the front of Embers.
- 02Speak with Padre outside.
- 03Ride with Padre to the Embers area.
- 04Enter the elevator to the garage.
- 05Locate the VIP parking area and the Rayfield.
- 06Optionally speak with Rick in his booth.
- 07Use Kirk’s device on the vehicle.
- 08Attempt to take the car, triggering the confrontation with Jackie and the police.
The thirteenth-floor restaurant
The upper floor is a polished corporate dining space rather than a conventional nightclub with a broad range of gameplay services. Its key features include:
Embers is not a normal vendor hub. There is no verified general shop, ripperdoc, weapon vendor, clothing store, food vendor or apartment service available here. Its apparent luxury should not be mistaken for a player-facing service system.
Verified readable items
The following named shards are documented inside Embers:
These are environmental reading items rather than quest rewards or equipment pickups.
Characters and ordinary occupants
Story-associated characters
The principal named characters connected with Embers are:
These characters are associated with different mission states. Padre, Rick and Jackie are not permanent Embers residents, while Hanako’s appearance is tied to the late-game main job.
Ordinary NPCs and security
The restaurant is populated by background patrons, staff and security during its active mission states. The exact mix is mission-dependent. Security controls entry and separates the public-facing restaurant from the underground garage.
There is no evidence that Embers functions as a persistent faction base. Its corporate clientele and security imply a controlled private venue, but the game does not present an independent Embers faction, gang or formal law-enforcement patrol system.
Missions and progression
The Streetkid
Embers appears during the Streetkid lifepath’s introductory mission. The location is used mainly as the setting for the underground car theft sequence rather than as a restaurant exploration area. The mission gives the player an early view of Embers’ secured garage and VIP parking.
This version of Embers should be treated as a lifepath scene. It does not unlock the building as a general early-game destination.
Nocturne OP55N1
Nocturne OP55N1 is the decisive late-game main job associated with Embers. Its opening objective is to meet Hanako at the restaurant. The mission follows the preceding Act 2 and Act 3 story events, including the relevant meetings and conversations that lead V to Hanako’s proposal.
The precise ending options depend on earlier side jobs, relationship progress and player choices. Embers itself does not award a conventional item reward. Its main reward is narrative access to the game’s ending branches.
Point of no return
Entering Embers during Nocturne OP55N1 is the major progression warning. The game restricts ordinary free-roam progression while the ending sequence is underway. After an ending, selecting the equivalent of continuing or returning to Night City places V back before the point of no return, allowing unfinished content to be completed and the ending sequence to be replayed through another route.
Nocturne OP55N1: A simplified route is
- 01Travel to Embers in The Glen.
- 02Enter through the main entrance.
- 03Pass the security check.
- 04Take the elevator to floor 13.
- 05Meet Hanako.
- 06Sit with her and hear her proposal.
- 07Leave the restaurant.
- 08Continue through the post-Embers sequence involving Viktor and Misty.
- 09Reach the later rooftop decision point, where previously unlocked ending routes become available.
Collectibles and secrets
Death Tarot graffiti
The Death Tarot mural is on the outside wall or exterior side of the Embers building. It is not inside the thirteenth-floor restaurant. Scan the graffiti with V’s scanner to register it for Fool on the Hill.
The mural can be collected as an exterior landmark independently of the restaurant meeting, provided the Tarot system has been unlocked. This makes it possible to register the card without committing to Nocturne OP55N1.
Tarot directory
The Death mural is a fixed collectible, not a random encounter or procedural placement.
Embers shard directory
The documented shards are readable environmental content. They are not presented as unique weapons, cyberware, clothing or quest rewards.
Exploration route and checklist
Quick exterior visit
Use this route if you only want the location and Tarot mural:
Streetkid checklist
If playing Streetkid, check the following before moving on:
Quick exterior visit
- 01Fast travel to Embers in The Glen.
- 02Walk around the building rather than entering the lower garage approach.
- 03Find the exterior Death mural.
- 04Scan it.
- 05Leave without entering the main restaurant entrance.
Lore and atmosphere
Embers represents the corporate side of Night City’s luxury culture. It is deliberately insulated from the street, with a controlled elevator, private security and VIP parking beneath an elevated restaurant. The building’s vertical design mirrors the game’s wider social geography: the garage is practical, guarded and transactional, while the thirteenth floor is polished, exclusive and designed for powerful guests.
Its placement is also narratively deliberate. The Death Tarot mural outside the building foreshadows transition and finality, while the restaurant’s elevated views and quiet luxury provide a sharp contrast to the danger and uncertainty of the missions that lead V there. The game never treats Embers as a normal hangout. It is a threshold, with the ordinary city below and the irreversible endgame above.
