Key takeaways

  • Metro Market St is in Wellsprings, Heywood, not in The Glen, Vista del Rey or City Center.
  • It is both a fast-travel dataterm and an NCART metro station in the updated game The station belongs to the wider five-line, nineteen-station NCART network.
  • The station is useful for reaching the waterfront and western Wellsprings, while nearby fast-travel points cover the rest of the sub-district.
  • It has no separately documented named vendor, unique collectible, boss fight or station-exclusive mission.
  • The surrounding Wellsprings district contains several gigs, vendors, NCPD activities and landmarks, but these should not automatically be counted as part of the station.
  • The old pre-Update 2.1 version of the game treated metro entrances largely as fast-travel points. The functioning ride system is a later game feature, not a separate location continuity.

About this guide

Scope: Cyberpunk 2077 base game, including the post-launch NCART metro system introduced in Update 2.1. Phantom Liberty and Dogtown are excluded. Spoilers: None for the main story. Minor spoilers for travel-system progression and nearby Wellsprings activities.

Overview

Metro: Market St is an NCART station and fast-travel point in Wellsprings, the western sub-district of Heywood. It is not a broad neighbourhood, shopping district or independently explorable zone. The name refers primarily to a transit stop positioned beside the Market Street road corridor. The station’s practical importance comes from its location: it gives V a convenient fast-travel and metro connection for the central and western part of Wellsprings, close to the coast, industrial infrastructure and several of Heywood’s major roads.

The station is easy to overstate because it sits inside the much larger Wellsprings area. Its immediate surroundings contain ordinary streets, traffic, housing, commercial frontage and the layered urban scenery typical of Heywood, but the game does not present a large named station complex with its own shops, vendors, missions or interior dungeon. Most activities associated with the location belong to Wellsprings as a whole, not to Metro: Market St itself.

The station is therefore best understood as a transport landmark and navigation anchor, rather than a quest location.

Location and boundaries

Administrative hierarchy

Night City → Heywood → Wellsprings → Market St → Metro: Market St

Wellsprings is one of Heywood’s three sub-districts, alongside The Glen and Vista del Rey. Metro: Market St should not be used as a name for all of Wellsprings, and Wellsprings should not be collapsed into the neighbouring Heywood sub-districts.

There is no evidence that the station has a separate named precinct, plaza, market hall or underground mission area. The surrounding district is considerably broader than the station itself.

What is nearby

The station lies within the western side of Wellsprings, an area characterised by:

Wellsprings is generally presented as one of the more developed and prosperous parts of Heywood. That does not make every street safe, however. Night City’s ordinary street crime, hostile encounters and NCPD incidents can still occur nearby.

What is not part of the location

The following should be treated as neighbouring or district-level content, not automatically as part of Metro: Market St:

These are useful destinations when using the station, but they are separate map entries or activities. Wellsprings guides list them as additional fast-travel locations rather than components of Metro: Market St.

Metro and fast travel

Fast travel

Before the metro ride feature is available, Metro: Market St functions as a normal fast-travel dataterm. Once discovered, V can select it from the map or travel to it from another unlocked fast-travel point.

The station is especially useful when approaching Wellsprings from Heywood’s southern or eastern roads, or when returning to the western side of the sub-district after a mission.

Riding the NCART

Update 2.1 added a working NCART travel system with five lines and nineteen stations. Stations use a metro interface showing available destinations and connections. Guides commonly describe the system as offering a choice between ordinary fast travel and riding the train.

The game’s current metro system should be distinguished from earlier versions:

The NCART system is a city-wide travel mechanic. It does not turn Metro: Market St into a full station dungeon, nor does it add a unique Market St questline.

Practical route planning

For short journeys inside Wellsprings, the other local fast-travel points may be more convenient. The district’s listed fast-travel network includes Megabuilding H2, Parque Del Mar, Pumping Station, Palms View Plaza, Cannery Plaza, Berkeley & Bay and Metro: Market St.

Surrounding Wellsprings connections

Metro: Market St is most useful when treated as one node in a group of Wellsprings destinations.

Wellsprings fast-travel directory

The following named fast-travel points are documented in Wellsprings:

This is a Wellsprings directory, not a list of structures contained inside the station.

Nearby Heywood sub-districts

The Glen and Vista del Rey have their own fast-travel entries, missions, businesses and landmarks. They should be explored as separate sub-districts rather than folded into the Market St article.

Roads and navigation

Market St

Market St is the road identity attached to the station. The game’s internal street data identifies “Market” as a Wellsprings street within Heywood.

The station is more useful as a map anchor than as a destination for on-foot sightseeing. If you are exploring without a quest marker, orient yourself by identifying the waterfront, the main Heywood road grid and the nearby Wellsprings terminals.

Suggested exploration loop

A practical Wellsprings circuit from Metro: Market St is:

This is a district tour, not a formal activity chain. Random encounters, police events and unmarked loot may vary with game state and may not be present on every visit.

---

Market St: In practice, use the following navigation method

  1. 01
Open the map and filter for fast travel.
  2. 02
Select the violet metro icon or the station label.
  3. 03
Follow the map marker to the station entrance.
  4. 04
If approaching by car, use the surrounding main roads rather than attempting to drive directly onto the pavement around the terminal.
  5. 05
Once inside the station interface, choose either fast travel or the metro ride option.

Suggested exploration loop

  1. 01
    Start at Metro: Market St.
  2. 02
Search the adjacent Market St frontage and nearby side roads.
  3. 03
Continue towards the waterfront and utility infrastructure.
  4. 04
Move inland towards Parque Del Mar and Megabuilding H2.
  5. 05
Check the Wellsprings map for gigs, NCPD scanner hustles and vendor icons.
  6. 06
Return via Pumping Station, Cannery Plaza or Metro: Market St, depending on your final destination.

Buildings, businesses and services

Station-specific services

No station-exclusive shop or service has been verified at Metro: Market St.

Business names and nearby visual signage are not sufficient evidence that a functioning service is present. The Wellsprings district does have vendors and services, but they belong to their own locations. Wellsprings guides separately list a weapon vendor and other local points of interest.

District-level named places

These names should be retained as separate directory entries if a larger Wellsprings guide is being assembled. They are not interchangeable with Metro: Market St.

---

District-level named places: Verified nearby or wider Wellsprings names include

Residents, visitors and ordinary NPCs

Metro: Market St does not have a documented named resident associated with the station itself.

These NPCs are environmental or encounter-based rather than a permanent named cast. Their presence can change with time, loading state, mission progression and nearby combat.

Factions

No faction is confirmed as owning or controlling Metro: Market St as a unique location.

The surrounding Heywood district is associated with major gangs, particularly the Valentinos, while 6th Street also operates in parts of Heywood. However, faction presence at the station should not be treated as a fixed station mechanic. A gang member seen nearby may belong to a local encounter, a scanner activity or ambient population rather than to a permanent station garrison.

Missions and activities

Station-exclusive missions

No mission has been verified as beginning specifically at Metro: Market St.

The station may still be useful for reaching Wellsprings missions and activities. Wellsprings activity lists include gigs such as:

These are Wellsprings activities, not necessarily station missions. A mission marker can place you near the station or use it as a travel route, but that does not redefine the station’s boundaries.

NCPD activities

Wellsprings contains NCPD scanner hustles. Their exact locations should be checked on the map because they are separate activities distributed across the sub-district. There is no verified evidence that Metro: Market St itself contains a permanent scanner-hustle arena.

Rewards and enemy groups can vary by activity. Do not attribute all Wellsprings loot to the metro station.

NCPD activities: When investigating a nearby scanner event

  1. 01
Check whether the icon is inside the station’s immediate area or merely in Wellsprings.
  2. 02
Scan the location before engaging, if possible.
  3. 03
Watch for civilians and police escalation.
  4. 04
Loot the bodies and containers after the activity.
  5. 05
Confirm whether the activity has a shard, evidence item or named target before leaving.

Enemies, hazards and security

Fixed threats

No fixed station boss, named enemy group or mandatory combat encounter has been verified at Metro: Market St.

Possible hazards

The practical risks are the ordinary risks of Night City:

The station itself is not documented as a high-security corporate facility or restricted-access checkpoint. It is a public transport location.

Items and collectibles

No unique collectible has been verified as belonging specifically to Metro: Market St.

That means the station should not be advertised as a guaranteed location for:

The surrounding Wellsprings streets may contain ordinary loot, random containers or mission-dependent rewards. Such finds are not necessarily fixed station content. A complete item guide should verify each placement separately using the relevant item, scanner or collectible directory.

Collectible checklist

For a careful visit, check the map for:

If no icon is present, do not infer that the area is empty. It may contain environmental storytelling or random loot without a formal map marker.

Progression and state changes

Metro access

The functioning NCART system is tied to the updated version of the base game. Earlier versions of Cyberpunk 2077 had metro entrances and fast-travel points but did not provide the same playable metro ride feature. Update 2.1 is therefore a meaningful progression of the location’s function.

Story progression

No major main-story transformation of Metro: Market St has been reliably documented. The station is not known for:

Temporary access restrictions can still occur if V is wanted, in combat or inside an active mission state.

Phantom Liberty distinction

Metro: Market St is in the base-game city and is not part of Dogtown. Phantom Liberty adds a separate region with its own checkpoints, factions, missions and fast-travel points. Dogtown’s nearby metro-related locations should not be merged into the Wellsprings station directory.

---

Lore and atmosphere

NCART is the public transport system of Night City. In the game’s setting, it is associated with Night Corp and connects the city’s districts through metro and related transit infrastructure. The wider lore presents public transport as useful but imperfect, with crime and gang activity extending into stations and tunnels.

Metro: Market St reflects that contrast. It is a practical public facility embedded in a heavily built-up district, but it is not presented as a clean, isolated transport hub. The station’s significance is atmospheric and logistical rather than narrative. It helps show Night City as a functioning city whose population still depends on public infrastructure despite its violence, inequality and corporate control.
