Key takeaways

  • California & Pershing is in Arasaka Waterfront, Watson, not in City Center or the separate Corporate Plaza district.
  • Its main practical use is as a fast-travel point near Konpeki Plaza.
  • The junction has no verified ordinary shop, ripperdoc, apartment, purchasable property or named resident attached to it.
  • The main story job The Heist provides the intended access to Konpeki Plaza After the job, the hotel is normally closed to free-roam access.
  • Players have historically used movement cyberware and environmental exploits from this area to revisit Konpeki Plaza and recover missed items, but these methods are unofficial, version-sensitive and not guaranteed to work.
  • Arasaka Waterfront North and Metro Eisenhower Street are separate fast-travel points within the same sub-district. They should not be merged with California & Pershing.

About this guide

Scope note: California & Pershing is not a district or a large open-world region in its own right. It is a named fast-travel dataterm and road junction in the Arasaka Waterfront, a sub-district of Watson. This guide therefore covers the dataterm itself, its immediate streets and surroundings, and the connected Arasaka Waterfront landmarks that give the location its practical importance. It does not incorrectly treat all of Watson, Northside, or the wider waterfront as part of the junction.

Cyberpunk 2077, base game location guide

Introduction

California & Pershing is one of the more misleading location names in Cyberpunk 2077. On the map, it appears as an ordinary fast-travel point in northern Watson. In practice, it is best known as the nearest convenient starting point for reaching the sealed-off grounds of Konpeki Plaza after the main job The Heist.

The junction sits within the Arasaka Waterfront, a heavily controlled corporate zone beside Del Coronado Bay. The public-facing area around the dataterm is mostly roads, barriers, retaining walls and large Arasaka-controlled structures rather than a conventional neighbourhood packed with shops or side quests. Its importance comes from what lies behind those barriers: Konpeki Plaza, the location of the game’s pivotal early heist, and a number of items that can be missed during that mission.

The location is also a useful example of the difference between *Cyberpunk 2077*’s named map points and its explorable spaces. California & Pershing is a functional navigation node. It is not an independent settlement, business district or mission hub.

Location, boundaries and hierarchy

California & Pershing belongs to the following hierarchy:

Night City → Watson → Arasaka Waterfront → California & Pershing

This distinction matters because several similarly named places are close by. The junction is not the same as:

Available fast-travel directories consistently place California & Pershing in the Arasaka Waterfront, alongside Arasaka Waterfront North and Metro: Eisenhower Street. Northside has its own Pershing Street dataterm, while Little China has California & Cartwright. These are separate map entries rather than alternate names for one location.

Verified named entries in scope

The following names are directly associated with the location or its immediate connected area:

The last two entries belong to the wider immediate setting rather than the junction itself. Konpeki Plaza is identified as a hotel in the Arasaka Waterfront, on California & Martin, while Del Coronado Bay forms the waterfront setting around the enclosed hotel grounds.

Geography and appearance

The area around California & Pershing is dominated by corporate infrastructure. California Avenue runs through a broad, vehicle-oriented section of Watson, while Pershing Street provides the junction’s second name and links the area towards the northern Watson road network.

Unlike Kabuki or Little China, the immediate surroundings do not function as a pedestrian market. There is no verified cluster of independent businesses, street vendors or public facilities attached to the dataterm. The visual language is instead one of exclusion:

The area can feel larger than its gameplay function suggests. The Arasaka Waterfront includes substantial scenery and blocked-off infrastructure, but much of that space is not designed as a conventional freely explorable district. A player can see more of the waterfront than they can legitimately enter during ordinary play.

Access and routes

Fast travel

The simplest way to reach the location is to select California & Pershing from the map once the dataterm has been discovered. It is one of the Watson fast-travel points and is listed specifically under Arasaka Waterfront.

The roads are generally easier to navigate by car or motorbike than on foot. The surrounding corporate walls and changes in elevation can make short distances appear longer, particularly when trying to approach Konpeki Plaza from the public road.

Nearby fast-travel connections

These distinctions are important when following guides. A guide that says “travel to Pershing” may mean Pershing Street rather than California & Pershing. For the Konpeki Plaza route, the intended reference is normally California & Pershing in Arasaka Waterfront.

Fast travel: For overland travel

  1. 01
Enter Watson from the southern road network.
  2. 02
Follow signs and roads towards the northern waterfront.
  3. 03
Use California Avenue as the main approach.
  4. 04
Watch for Pershing Street and the nearby fast-travel terminal.
  5. 05
Do not confuse the junction with the separate Pershing Street dataterm farther north in Northside.

Konpeki Plaza

Why it matters

Konpeki Plaza is the dominant landmark connected with California & Pershing. It is an exclusive Arasaka-owned hotel in the Arasaka Waterfront, designed for corporate executives, political figures and wealthy guests. Its position within a secured waterfront enclosure explains why the surrounding area has so little ordinary public activity.

The hotel is the setting for The Heist, one of the game’s main jobs. V, Jackie Welles and T-Bug infiltrate the hotel to steal the Relic, a prototype biochip connected to Arasaka. The mission introduces the player to the hotel’s luxury interior, security systems, penthouse, service areas and emergency routes.

Konpeki Plaza is not the same location as Arasaka Tower. The hotel is in Watson’s Arasaka Waterfront, while Arasaka Tower is associated with Corporate Plaza in City Center. The similar corporate architecture and Arasaka ownership can make the two easy to confuse.

What can be found there

During The Heist, players can encounter or obtain:

The hotel is substantially more important during the mission than during free roam. Its accessible layout, enemy placement and loot are tied to the job’s scripted progression.

About this guide

Major spoilers for the opening act

The Heist: practical walkthrough

The intended route through the location is part of The Heist, not a free-roam activity started at the California & Pershing dataterm.

Before entering Konpeki Plaza

The mission’s time pressure and escalating danger make it easy to focus on the objective and overlook optional items. If collecting iconic equipment or unique environmental items matters to you, search carefully before advancing the objective.

Satori

Satori is an iconic katana associated with the escape from Konpeki Plaza. It is located in the AV area during The Heist, rather than in the main penthouse loot route. Players who leave without checking the vehicle landing area can miss it during the normal mission.

Nehan

Nehan is another iconic weapon connected with the Konpeki Plaza sequence. Its availability and exact placement should be checked against the version of the game being played, because loot rules and item presentation have changed across updates.

Iguana egg

The iguana egg is found during the Konpeki Plaza mission and can later support the iguana pet interaction at V’s apartment. It is easy to overlook because it is an environmental pickup rather than a central objective.

The important distinction is that these items are mission-associated loot, not permanent rewards granted simply for discovering California & Pershing.

Before entering Konpeki Plaza

  1. 01
Follow the main story until V, Jackie and T-Bug begin The Heist.
  2. 02
Enter Konpeki Plaza using the hotel’s legitimate guest access.
  3. 03
Follow the hotel sequence through the reception and security areas.
  4. 04
    Continue to the penthouse objective.
  5. 05
Search the penthouse and nearby areas before leaving if you want the mission-specific loot.
  6. 06
Complete the escape sequence and leave the hotel as directed.

Returning after The Heist

Under ordinary progression, Konpeki Plaza is not reopened as a normal public destination after the mission. The California & Pershing dataterm remains available, but the hotel itself is normally sealed.

Players have nevertheless found methods for reaching the exterior or interior through movement exploits, collision gaps and cyberware-assisted climbing. Guides commonly recommend reaching California & Pershing first, then using a vehicle and jump-enhancing cyberware to cross or climb around barriers. Some methods have also involved manipulating police responses or forcing access through doors.

A guide describing one working method for version 2.3 is not evidence that the same route works in every later build. Treat these techniques as version-specific exploration tricks rather than guaranteed mechanics.

Factions and security

The immediate area is associated with Arasaka, whose presence is structural as much as personal. The corporation controls Konpeki Plaza, provides its security and treats the waterfront as a protected corporate zone.

During normal free roam around the public roads, the area does not function as an open combat arena with a permanent named boss encounter. Arasaka security becomes mechanically important inside Konpeki Plaza during The Heist, where guards, cameras and restricted areas form part of the mission’s stealth and combat design.

There is no verified independent fixer office, gang headquarters or NCPD precinct at California & Pershing itself. The location should not be confused with Watson’s broader gang territories, especially Maelstrom-controlled areas elsewhere in the district.

Shops, services and facilities

No functional shop or service has been verified at the California & Pershing junction itself.

Not present as confirmed local services

The dataterm is a transport facility, not a commercial hub. If you need equipment, travel to another Watson sub-district or use a vendor elsewhere in Night City.

Ordinary NPCs and residents

California & Pershing does not have a verified named resident population. Ordinary traffic and pedestrians may appear around the roads, but their presence is ambient rather than tied to a documented local community.

Konpeki Plaza has hotel staff, guests and Arasaka security during The Heist, but those characters are mission participants or temporary occupants. They should not be listed as permanent residents of California & Pershing.

Story-associated characters

The following characters are connected to the wider Konpeki Plaza sequence, not residents of the junction:

The list describes narrative association only. It does not mean that each character can be encountered at California & Pershing in free roam.

Story-associated characters

Enemies and bosses

Public area

No permanent named boss encounter is verified at the dataterm itself. Random hostility in the surrounding roads should not be confused with a fixed local enemy group.

Konpeki Plaza

The hotel’s most important boss-level confrontation is connected with the mission’s escape and later story consequences rather than a repeatable open-world boss event at California & Pershing.

Lore and significance

California & Pershing has little standalone lore because its identity is geographical rather than narrative. Its importance comes from the corporate geography of Watson. The junction places V beside a private Arasaka enclave that is physically close to the public city but designed to exclude it.

Konpeki Plaza embodies Arasaka’s version of luxury: a hotel where global executives, politicians and celebrities can conduct business away from ordinary Night City. The contrast between the public road junction and the sealed hotel grounds reinforces one of the game’s recurring themes. Corporate power does not merely occupy buildings. It controls access, movement and visibility.

The location also illustrates the game’s layered map design. A player can see the waterfront, its walls and its towers long before the story explains why they matter. Later, the same visual landmark becomes associated with the Relic, the death of Saburo Arasaka, the collapse of V and Jackie’s plan, and the beginning of the main conflict.
