Key takeaways

  • Arasaka Waterfront is a Watson subdistrict, not a synonym for every Arasaka facility in Night City.
  • Its practical boundaries are defined by a fortified Arasaka perimeter and the shoreline, with Northside forming the main neighbouring urban area.
  • Konpeki Plaza is the major playable landmark and the setting for most of the area’s story content.
  • The main job The Heist provides the principal legitimate route into Konpeki Plaza. The hotel is not normally available as a permanent free-roam destination afterwards.
  • The area contains a particularly important collection of missable equipment, including Kongou, Satori and the Dying Night pistol, although Dying Night is obtained in the neighbouring Little China area rather than the Waterfront itself.
  • The district has almost no ordinary commercial gameplay Do not expect a ripperdoc, weapon shop, fixer gig chain, NCPD activity or open public services inside the restricted waterfront.

About this guide

Scope: Cyberpunk 2077 base game, including the post-launch 2.x map and fast-travel additions where relevant. Spoiler warning: This guide discusses The Heist, Konpeki Plaza, Arasaka security and several important story locations.

Overview

Arasaka Waterfront is a sealed corporate-industrial subdistrict in Watson, occupying the north-western edge of Night City. It is not a conventional waterfront neighbourhood with public promenades, shops and residential blocks. Instead, it is an enormous Arasaka-controlled logistics complex surrounded by walls, checkpoints, automated security and restricted infrastructure.

For most of the base game, the area is best understood as a large environmental and narrative space with very little conventional free-roam content. Its principal playable location is Konpeki Plaza, the luxury hotel used during the main job The Heist. Much of the rest of the subdistrict is visible from outside the perimeter but is not normally accessible during free exploration.

This distinction matters. Arasaka Waterfront is not the same place as:

Location and boundaries

Arasaka Waterfront sits at the north-western end of Watson. It is separated from the denser streets of Northside by a combination of roads, industrial barriers and Arasaka’s fortified wall. The district’s outer edge faces the water, while its landward side connects visually and geographically with Watson’s industrial zones.

The important boundary is not a neat public-road border. Arasaka Waterfront is presented as a corporate enclave. The wall and security infrastructure communicate that the area is legally and practically different from the surrounding city. Arasaka controls the movement of workers, shipments and visitors, while ordinary Night City residents are discouraged from approaching.

The in-game map identifies the area as a separate Watson subdistrict. Watson itself is divided into four subdistricts:

The Waterfront should therefore be treated as a complete subdistrict rather than simply the hotel’s immediate surroundings. However, the distinction between the broad map zone and its usable content is crucial. The full map footprint is much larger than the portion V can normally explore.

What is included

The following places belong to the Arasaka Waterfront scope:

What is not included

These nearby or similarly named locations should remain separate:

Some map guides list Konpeki Plaza and Arasaka Industrial Park together under an “Arasaka” or “Arasaka Waterfront” heading. That is a catalogue error caused by grouping Arasaka facilities rather than following the game’s district boundaries. Arasaka Industrial Park has its own Santo Domingo fast-travel point and should not be folded into a Watson guide.

Geography and visual character

The outer areas are dominated by walls, gantries, security structures, containers, access roads and industrial buildings. The hotel is deliberately different. Konpeki Plaza is a polished, vertical luxury environment with expensive materials, decorative lighting, restaurants, private accommodation and highly controlled access.

This contrast is central to the location’s storytelling. Arasaka’s public-facing hospitality and wealth are displayed inside the hotel, while the surrounding infrastructure suggests the scale of the organisation’s hidden supply chain.

The official-facing description of the district presents it as a logistics hub where shipments are inspected, stored in automated warehouses and distributed elsewhere. The same description emphasises that the contents of those shipments and the real purpose of the complex are unclear. The fortified perimeter is supposedly intended to protect Arasaka property from gangs, scavengers, journalists and curious residents, but the game uses that explanation to underline the corporation’s secrecy.

The Waterfront combines three visual ideas

  1. 01
A private port and logistics yard
  2. 02
    A militarised corporate compound
  3. 03
A luxury hotel district reserved for Arasaka’s clients

Subareas and named places

Konpeki Plaza

Status: Mission location, restricted hotel Main appearance: The Heist

Konpeki Plaza is the Waterfront’s defining landmark. It is one of Night City’s most exclusive hotels and is designed for corporate executives, political figures, celebrities and other wealthy clients.

During The Heist, V, Jackie Welles and T-Bug enter the hotel to steal the Relic from Yorinobu Arasaka’s penthouse. The job takes V through several distinct areas:

Konpeki Plaza is not merely a combat arena. It establishes the power structure of the Arasaka family, introduces Yorinobu’s conflict with Saburo Arasaka and gives the player an early view of Arasaka’s corporate culture. The hotel’s luxury is constantly undercut by surveillance, armed guards and the knowledge that almost every guest is being monitored.

Arasaka security perimeter

Status: Restricted outer complex

The perimeter consists of walls, gates, guard posts and automated security measures. It is largely scenery during ordinary play. Players can observe parts of the compound from neighbouring roads and elevated positions, but the game does not provide a normal public route through the whole zone.

The perimeter is important for atmosphere rather than for a conventional activity loop. It tells the player that the Waterfront is not simply an industrial neighbourhood that happens to contain an Arasaka building. It is an Arasaka-controlled territory embedded inside Night City.

California & Pershing

Status: Fast-travel dataterm and road connection

California & Pershing is the principal fast-travel point associated with Arasaka Waterfront. It sits outside or beside the usable edge of the secured complex and is the most practical starting point for inspecting the district.

Fast-travel dataterms become available when discovered. They do not need to be used after discovery, and the map icon is generally revealed when V comes within a short distance of the terminal. The California & Pershing terminal is listed among Watson’s fast-travel locations.

Waterfront warehouses and logistics yards

Status: Mostly inaccessible scenery

The broader Waterfront includes the visual language of warehouses, shipping infrastructure, service roads and automated industrial operations. These spaces help establish Arasaka’s supply-chain presence, but they are not presented as a fully explorable industrial sandbox in the base game.

There is no verified public shopping street, civilian market or ordinary residential quarter inside this part of the district. The absence of such amenities is itself part of the location’s design. The Waterfront is a place where goods and corporate personnel move through controlled systems, not a neighbourhood intended for casual tourism.

Access and routes

Normal free-roam access

In ordinary free roam, V can approach the Waterfront from Watson’s surrounding roads and discover the nearby fast-travel terminal. The external roads and viewpoints are accessible, but the main Arasaka compound is blocked by security barriers or inaccessible geometry.

Do not assume that every visible road or building is an intended route. The game contains large background structures that can be seen from the map or from rooftops but are not designed for normal entry.

Mission access

The principal legitimate access route is The Heist. The job takes place after V and Jackie accept Dexter DeShawn’s contract to steal the Relic from Konpeki Plaza.

The exact stealth or combat approach can vary. V can use stealth, hacking, distractions and limited alternate routes, or turn the hotel into a firefight. The broad mission structure remains fixed.

Post-mission access

After The Heist, Konpeki Plaza is not restored as a general-purpose hotel dungeon. The location may remain visible and can be revisited in limited or unusual ways depending on platform, version and player movement techniques, but such access is not part of the ordinary intended progression.

For a standard playthrough, treat the mission as the reliable opportunity to collect hotel-specific items.

---

Mission access: The mission provides the intended sequence

  1. 01
Travel to Konpeki Plaza with Jackie.
  2. 02
Enter through the hotel’s reception area.
  3. 03
Follow the planned route through the hotel.
  4. 04
    Reach the penthouse.
  5. 05
    Take the Relic.
  6. 06
Escape after Saburo Arasaka’s arrival and death.
  7. 07
Leave through the hotel’s emergency and external routes.

Main job: The Heist

Spoiler warning: This section reveals the opening act’s major events.

The Heist is the central activity in Arasaka Waterfront. V and Jackie are hired by Dexter DeShawn to steal the Relic, an experimental Arasaka biochip containing the engram of Johnny Silverhand.

The job begins as a heist and becomes a disaster when Saburo Arasaka arrives at the hotel and confronts his son Yorinobu. Yorinobu kills Saburo, places the blame on V and Jackie’s intrusion, and triggers a security lockdown. T-Bug is killed while attempting to keep the team’s access open, and V escapes with the damaged Relic.

Konpeki Plaza’s layout supports the mission’s changing tone:

There are no independent fixer gigs, NCPD Scanner Hustles or cyberpsycho sightings normally assigned to Arasaka Waterfront in the base-game map listings. The area’s apparent emptiness is therefore not a missing checklist item. It is largely a consequence of the district being built around one major story operation.

Important items and missable equipment

Kongou

Type: Iconic power pistol Location: Yorinobu’s penthouse, on the nightstand near his bed Availability: During The Heist

Kongou is one of the most useful early iconic weapons. It is easy to miss because the mission’s objective leads V towards the Relic rather than towards the bedroom furniture.

The weapon’s exact handling and perk behaviour can vary with game version and item-system changes, so the important permanent fact is its location and iconic status rather than older pre-2.0 statistics. The weapon’s placement is documented in location guides.

Satori

Type: Iconic katana Location: AV landing pad, inside the vehicle Availability: During The Heist

Satori is even easier to overlook because it is not in the penthouse. After the hotel’s security situation changes, V reaches the AV landing area. The katana can be found inside the AV associated with the escape sequence.

Satori is a fixed mission placement, not a random drop. The location is listed as the vehicle on the AV landing pad.

The Emperor tarot card

Type: Tarot graffiti collectible Location: Associated with Konpeki Plaza Availability: Act 2, after tarot-card discovery becomes available

Tarot graffiti cannot normally be collected during the opening act. Tarot-card interaction becomes available from Act 2 during Fool on the Hill, after Misty introduces V to the activity.

The Emperor card is thematically appropriate for the Waterfront. Its imagery concerns authority, control, hierarchy and ruthless power, all ideas strongly associated with Arasaka and the events at Konpeki Plaza.

The card is a fixed collectible placement, not a random encounter.

Kongou: Acquisition steps

  1. 01
Enter Yorinobu’s penthouse during The Heist.
  2. 02
Before leaving the room, search the area around the bed.
  3. 03
Pick up Kongou from the nightstand.
  4. 04
If you miss it, do not assume it will reappear later in normal free roam.

Satori: Acquisition steps

  1. 01
Reach the AV landing pad during The Heist.
  2. 02
Before continuing the escape, enter the vehicle if the mission allows it.
  3. 03
    Search inside and collect Satori.
  4. 04
    Continue the escape sequence afterwards.

The Emperor tarot card: Acquisition steps

  1. 01
    Reach Act 2.
  2. 02
    Begin Fool on the Hill.
  3. 03
Scan the tarot graffiti near Konpeki Plaza.
  4. 04
Return to Misty as required by the mission.

Security, enemies and hazards

The main hazard is not environmental damage but escalating detection. Once the hotel enters lockdown, routes become more dangerous and the player has fewer opportunities to move unnoticed.

There is no ordinary free-roam enemy faction loop comparable to Maelstrom-controlled Northside. Arasaka personnel are present primarily because of the mission or because the player is trespassing in a restricted space.

Residents, visitors and factions

Arasaka Corporation

Arasaka is the Waterfront’s controlling faction. The district’s walls, logistics facilities, hotel and security presence all express the corporation’s authority.

The area is associated with several branches of Arasaka activity:

Important story figures

These characters are connected to the Waterfront through The Heist rather than as permanent local residents:

The hotel’s guests and staff are visitors, employees or mission-state NPCs. They should not be treated as a stable directory of Waterfront residents because most do not persist in the district as free-roam characters.

Ordinary NPCs

Konpeki Plaza contains hotel staff, guests, guards and service personnel during The Heist. The surrounding compound may show workers or security-related figures depending on the scene and location state, but the district does not provide a reliable civilian population comparable to Kabuki, Little China or Japantown.

Services and facilities

The following categories are not verified as normally available functional services inside Arasaka Waterfront:

The district’s map footprint should not be mistaken for a commercial directory. The available map data lists no ordinary gigs, side jobs, cyberpsycho sightings, reported crimes or purchasable vehicles for the Waterfront.

Exploration route: steps

  1. 01
    Travel to California & Pershing.
  2. 02
Walk or drive around the accessible outer roads.
  3. 03
Inspect the wall, gates and skyline for the district’s industrial scale.
  4. 04
Avoid treating blocked gates as undiscovered side entrances.
  5. 05
During The Heist, search the penthouse for Kongou.
  6. 06
Search the AV landing pad for Satori.
  7. 07
Return in Act 2 for The Emperor tarot card.
  8. 08
Use the fast-travel point as a Watson transport link rather than expecting a full activity zone.

Lore and interpretation

Arasaka Waterfront demonstrates how corporations have replaced many traditional civic functions in Night City. It is a port, warehouse district, security zone and elite hotel complex under one private authority. The city surrounds it, but the city does not meaningfully govern it.

Its most important narrative contrast is between visibility and access. Everyone can see the walls and understand that Arasaka owns the place, but almost nobody can see what happens inside. The hotel offers a carefully curated public face, while the logistics yards and restricted infrastructure remain opaque.

Konpeki Plaza also shows the difference between Arasaka’s institutional image and its family politics. The hotel is clean, expensive and controlled, yet the events that occur there are driven by betrayal, succession and violence. The Waterfront therefore acts as an introduction to Arasaka before the player later encounters the corporation in other locations and story contexts.

---

Connections to nearby areas

The most common boundary mistake is to group every Arasaka facility under the Waterfront. The corporation’s Night City presence is distributed across several districts. A location’s Arasaka ownership does not determine its map subdistrict.
