Key takeaways
- Downtown is a sub-district of City Center, alongside Corpo Plaza It is not the whole of City Center and should not be confused with Corpo Plaza’s Arasaka Tower, Memorial Park or corporate headquarters.
- Downtown Central is a fast-travel location, not a separately defined district.
- The area is primarily an affluent commercial and entertainment zone, but its missions often expose exploitation, corporate negligence and organised crime beneath the surface.
- Important activities include the side job Bullets, the cyberpsycho sighting On Deaf Ears, and the gigs The Frolics of Councilwoman Cole, Guinea Pigs and An Inconvenient Killer.
- Downtown has strong access to the rest of Night City through road links, the metro network and fast-travel points including Downtown Central, Downtown North, Skyline & Republic, Gold Beach Marina and Corporation ST.
- The district has no reported NCPD crime activity listed by the commonly used area guides, but it still contains scripted combat, hostile security, gang members and a cyberpsycho encounter.
About this guide
Scope: Cyberpunk 2077 base game, including content added in post-launch patches where it remains part of the base game. Phantom Liberty and Dogtown are excluded. Terminology note: Downtown Central is not the official name of a Night City sub-district. It is a fast-travel dataterm within the Downtown sub-district, which itself belongs to City Center. This guide therefore covers the full Downtown sub-district rather than treating the central fast-travel point as a separate miniature area.
Overview
Downtown is the polished, rebuilt face of Night City. Its towers, corporate hotels, luxury restaurants, clubs, animated billboards and high-end shops present the city as a place of money, technology and controlled sophistication. Yet the district’s wealth is inseparable from its criminal undercurrent. Behind the office towers are illegal braindance dealers, synthetic-drug sellers, mercenary haunts, gang-controlled nightlife venues and heavily guarded corporate facilities.
For players, Downtown is one of the more useful districts to revisit throughout the game. It contains several high-value vendors, major story locations, fixer gigs, a cyberpsycho encounter, purchasable and collectible equipment, fast-travel links and a number of interiors that become available only during missions. It is also a good example of *Cyberpunk 2077*’s layered geography: the map presents a single continuous city, but the game’s district hierarchy separates Downtown from neighbouring Corpo Plaza, even where streets, buildings and visual themes flow into one another.
Boundaries and hierarchy
Night City’s City Center is divided into two sub-districts:
Downtown should therefore be treated as the broad western and northern urban-commercial part of City Center, while Corpo Plaza covers the more concentrated corporate zone around Arasaka Tower, Memorial Park and the principal megacorporate facilities. The two areas are visually similar and connected by major roads, which makes the boundary easy to miss while driving or walking.
The location called Downtown Central appears in the fast-travel network between Skyline & Republic and Halsey & MLK. It is a transport label, not evidence that Downtown is divided into a formally named “Downtown Central” subarea. The same fast-travel list separately identifies Downtown North, Metro: Downtown – Alexander St and Metro: Republic Way, reinforcing that these are points within the broader sub-district rather than separate districts.
Included in this guide
The guide treats the following as part of Downtown where the game’s location systems and available directories place them there:
Not included
The following should not be folded into Downtown merely because they are nearby or share the same corporate visual style:
The Cyberpunk tabletop setting uses related but not identical maps and continuities. This article concerns the 2077 base-game map only.
Boundaries and hierarchy
Developed overview
Downtown was rebuilt after the destruction of Arasaka’s headquarters. Its redevelopment created a district designed to advertise recovery and prosperity. The resulting skyline is dominated by tall office and residential towers, corporate hotels, exclusive restaurants and conspicuous advertising. The district’s public image is one of order and success, but its nightlife provides a more unstable view of the same economy. Dealers, illicit braindance sellers, gangs and mercenaries operate in places that appear respectable from the street.
That contrast is particularly clear in the district’s missions. Guinea Pigs takes place in a Biotechnica hotel and concerns the consequences of corporate product testing. An Inconvenient Killer leads V into 7th Hell, a nightclub whose criminal character is concealed only by the normalisation of violence and mercenary work. Bullets begins at Jinguji, an expensive clothing shop, but quickly turns into a MaxTac and cyberpsycho incident.
Downtown is not a gang territory in the same straightforward sense as parts of Watson, Pacifica or Santo Domingo. Corporate security, private guards and NCPD presence are more prominent. Nevertheless, hostile gang members appear in clubs, mission locations and selected encounters. The district’s security is therefore best understood as layered rather than absolute: public streets are relatively controlled, while private venues and restricted buildings may be defended by corporate security, hired muscle, cameras, turrets or scripted enemies.
Geography and visual identity
Downtown’s most recognisable features are verticality and spectacle. It is built to be seen from the highway, from the elevated roads and from the waterfront. Large signs and animated advertising conceal much of the underlying architecture, while roads curve around towers, hotels and entertainment venues.
The district’s darker spaces are generally found away from its most visible avenues. Alleys and service roads connect hotels and commercial towers to less presentable businesses. These routes are useful for stealth approaches during gigs, although the exact access options can depend on V’s attributes, cyberware and the mission state.
The main environmental themes are
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Corporate prestige | polished facades, large lobbies, executive accommodation and branded towers. |
| Nightlife | clubs, bars, braindance-related businesses and venues whose public presentation is more respectable than their clientele. |
| Luxury retail | clothing, weapons and specialist services. |
| Waterfront access | marinas, docks and yacht-related mission spaces. |
| Controlled movement | checkpoints, security doors, cameras and guarded private premises. |
Roads and access
Downtown is easy to reach from most of central Night City. Its streets connect to Corpo Plaza to the east and south, with routes leading towards Heywood and other City Center approaches. Players can drive directly into the district, use the metro, or fast travel once the relevant dataterms have been discovered.
Fast-travel and metro directory
The following transport points are associated with Downtown or its immediate City Center approaches:
This list includes nearby City Center transport points, not just the Downtown Central marker itself. The fast-travel directory places Downtown Central between Skyline & Republic and Halsey & MLK, while Arasaka Tower and Memorial Park represent the neighbouring Corpo Plaza network.
Practical navigation
The roads can be visually confusing because multiple large buildings serve as landmarks, while mission markers may direct V to a side entrance rather than the building’s obvious front door.
Fast-travel and metro directory
Practical navigation: For general exploration
- 01Start at Downtown Central if you want to reach the district’s central commercial streets.
- 02Walk or drive towards Jinguji for the clothing-shop side job and the district’s luxury-retail atmosphere.
- 03Use Corporation ST or Gold Beach Marina for southern and waterfront missions.
- 04Travel north towards Downtown North and the Republic Way area for hotel and corporate assignments.
- 05Use the metro when crossing City Center rather than driving around the corporate road network.
Named locations and buildings
The following directory consolidates named places associated with City Center and Downtown-related location listings. Entries belonging specifically to Corpo Plaza are separated below rather than silently merged into Downtown.
Downtown businesses, facilities and landmarks
Some names in this directory are businesses or named interiors, while others are corporate buildings, waterfront facilities or map landmarks. The available City Center category lists 33 location entries, including several Downtown-facing vendors and commercial places, but it does not always provide a clean sub-district split. For that reason, entries should be checked against the in-game map before being treated as geographically precise.
Corpo Plaza locations, kept separate
These locations belong to the neighbouring City Center sub-district of Corpo Plaza and are not Downtown locations:
The broader Corporate Plaza directory also identifies Arasaka Academy, Arasaka Tower, Memorial Park, the Militech and Petrochem towers, The View and other facilities as part of that sub-district.

Businesses and services
Jinguji
Jinguji is a high-end clothing shop in Downtown and the starting location for the side job Bullets. Speak to Zane inside the shop, leave the area, wait for time to pass, then return and make another purchase. The cyberpsycho incident begins after the later transaction.
The shop is therefore both a functional clothing vendor and a mission location. It is not merely a decorative storefront.
Doc Ryder and Medpoint
Downtown contains named ripperdoc facilities listed as Doc Ryder (Downtown) and Medpoint (Downtown). Their presence makes the district useful for cyberware maintenance and upgrades, although available stock, prices and required Street Cred can vary with game progression and patch version.
Do not infer identical services from the names alone. The two locations are distinct vendors in the game’s location directory.
Rifles & Pistols
Rifles & Pistols (Downtown) is the district’s named weapon vendor listing. It is useful when upgrading firearms or checking for new stock after levelling and progressing through the story.
Clothing and food venues
The Downtown directory includes named commercial locations such as:
Not every named storefront is a full player service. Some function as scenery, mission destinations or enterable interiors rather than vendors with a distinct purchasable menu. The game’s signage often makes a location appear more mechanically important than it is, so treat vendor status as a verified gameplay property rather than something implied by the name.
Residents, visitors and associated characters
Dino Dinovic
Dino Dinovic is Downtown’s fixer. He operates from Electric Orgasm, a bar whose name reflects his flamboyant presentation and the district’s nightlife culture. Dino offers the Downtown gig line as Street Cred and story progression unlock more work.
Dino is a resident or regular operator in the district rather than a passing mission visitor. His location is one of Downtown’s most useful orientation landmarks.
Zane
Zane works at Jinguji and is central to Bullets. He is not a general district fixer and should be treated as a shop employee connected to that side job.
Joanne Koch
Joanne Koch is the target of Guinea Pigs. She is a Biotechnica regional director staying in the Biotechnica corporate hotel. Her presence in Downtown is mission-specific.
Jack Mausser
Jack Mausser is the target of An Inconvenient Killer. He owns or operates 7th Hell and is found in the club’s VIP area during the gig.
Councilwoman Eva Cole
Eva Cole is associated with The Frolics of Councilwoman Cole. The mission concerns recordings made aboard her yacht at the marina. She is a story-associated visitor to the Downtown waterfront rather than a permanent Downtown resident.
Factions and security
Downtown’s dominant powers are corporations and formal security organisations rather than a single street gang. The district’s major corporate associations include:
The Corporate Plaza material describes that neighbouring sub-district as exceptionally secure, with NCPD and corporate guards patrolling heavily. Downtown shares some of that security atmosphere but is more commercially mixed, with nightlife and underworld businesses embedded among the corporate facilities.
Missions and activities
Side job: Bullets
Availability: After the main job Playing for Time.
Location: Jinguji in Downtown.
The crucial condition is that the cyberpsycho must remain alive until MaxTac arrives. Killing the target prematurely prevents the intended completion state. The side job is a good example of Downtown’s central theme: luxury retail abruptly colliding with public violence and heavily armed state intervention.
Cyberpsycho sighting: On Deaf Ears
On Deaf Ears is Downtown’s listed cyberpsycho sighting. The encounter involves:
The shards are part of the encounter’s evidence chain, so search the area rather than leaving immediately after defeating the target.
Gig: The Frolics of Councilwoman Cole
Type: Thievery Fixer: Dino Dinovic Location: Marina, Cannery Row
V must infiltrate the docks and steal recordings from Councilwoman Eva Cole’s yacht. The mission supports a stealth approach:
The docks contain guards, cameras and turrets. A terminal in the first pavilion can be used to disable cameras and take control of the turrets. Remaining undetected provides the intended quiet outcome and may improve the mission’s payout or result, depending on the final state.
Gig: Guinea Pigs
Type: Gun for Hire Location: Biotechnica corporate hotel on Republic Way Target: Joanne Koch
The mission sends V into the hotel to reach Koch’s apartment on the 19th floor. The main objectives are:
The hotel is a mission-focused corporate interior. Its restricted areas, security layout and rooftop extraction point matter more than its public-facing hotel function.
Gig: An Inconvenient Killer
Type: Gun for Hire Location: 7th Hell, at Corporation Street and Ring Road West Target: Jack Mausser
Dino wants Jack Mausser eliminated after a job went catastrophically wrong. The intended route is:
The mission strongly rewards patience. Starting an indiscriminate firefight in the club can make the encounter more difficult and removes the stealth emphasis of the gig.
Activity directory
The referenced Downtown guide reports no Reported Crime NCPD Scanner Hustles in the sub-district and no Tarot cards. This should be read as an activity-directory result, not as proof that Downtown contains no minor combat encounters, loot scenes or scripted violence.

Items, rewards and vehicles
Downtown’s most significant rewards come from missions, vendors and general exploration rather than from a large district-specific collectible set.
Mission rewards
Rewards for gigs and side jobs can include:
Exact item rewards can vary by mission state, loot generation and game version. The most important fixed acquisition condition in Downtown is the Bullets progression requirement: speak to Zane, leave and return after time has passed, then purchase an item to trigger the incident.
Vehicles for sale
The available vehicle guide states that car offers begin after Act 2 and may depend on Street Cred. The Caliburn is the luxury performance option, while the Columbus is a cheaper freight vehicle. Prices and availability should be checked against the current save because vendor offers can depend on progression and game updates.
Vehicles for sale: The Downtown vehicle listings include
| Vehicle | Listed price | Street Cred requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Rayfield Caliburn | €$157,000 | 40 |
| Columbus V340-F Freight | €$19,000 | 1 |
Security, hazards and secrets
Downtown’s main hazards are not environmental traps but overlapping security systems:

Spoiler FAQSpoilers
Is Downtown Central a district?
No. It is a fast-travel dataterm within Downtown. The formal hierarchy is City Center → Downtown. City Center’s other sub-district is Corpo Plaza.
Is Arasaka Tower in Downtown?
No. Arasaka Tower belongs to Corpo Plaza, the neighbouring City Center sub-district. It is close enough to Downtown that the distinction can be easy to miss.
Does Downtown contain Tarot cards?
The referenced Downtown activity listing reports none. Do not add nearby Corpo Plaza or Heywood cards to a Downtown directory.
Can the cyberpsycho in Bullets be killed?
The side job requires V to avoid killing the cyberpsycho before MaxTac arrives. Let MaxTac finish the encounter, then continue the scene.
Is 7th Hell a normal bar?
It is a named nightclub and mission location. It is associated with Jack Mausser and the gig An Inconvenient Killer, so its most important role is as a mission interior rather than a conventional repeatable service venue.
