East Northside

East Northside is the industrial, gang-controlled eastern stretch of Watson’s Northside.

Key takeaways

  • East Northside is an informal descriptive area, not a canonical subdistrict The official hierarchy is Night City → Watson → Northside.
  • NID East is a fast-travel dataterm within Northside. It should not be confused with East Badlands locations or with a separate district called East Northside.
  • All Foods is the area’s major story location and Maelstrom stronghold Its layout and access depend heavily on the main job The Pickup.
  • The wider Northside activity pool includes fixer gigs, NCPD Scanner Hustles, loot sites and gang compounds. Not every activity counted by a map guide as “Northside” is necessarily inside the eastern section.
  • Fast travel is useful here, but the road layout is worth learning because East Northside links the factory belt with the rest of Watson and the northern roads.
  • This guide covers the base game Phantom Liberty and Dogtown do not expand East Northside itself.

About this guide

Scope note: “East Northside” is not a separately named district or subdistrict in the base game’s public map hierarchy. The game officially treats this area as the eastern part of Northside, itself a subdistrict of Watson. “East” or NID: East is the name of a fast-travel dataterm in Northside, not a distinct administrative area. This guide therefore covers the eastern side of Northside around the NID: East terminal, while distinguishing it from the wider Northside subdistrict.

Overview

East Northside is the industrial, gang-controlled eastern stretch of Watson’s Northside. It is a particularly useful part of the city to explore because it sits between Northside’s factory belt, the northern edge of Kabuki and the long roads leading towards the Badlands. The area is not a self-contained neighbourhood with its own quest counter or fixer. Instead, it is a practical map-guide label for the territory surrounding the NID: East fast-travel point.

The landscape is made up of heavy industrial buildings, fenced compounds, loading yards, elevated roadways and neglected commercial structures. Compared with Kabuki, East Northside is less densely packed with markets and pedestrians. Compared with the waterfront, it is less dominated by docks and corporate shipping. Its defining character is the combination of abandoned industry, Maelstrom influence, scavenger activity and scattered NCPD incidents.

The most important location nearby is All Foods, the abandoned factory used as Maelstrom’s principal hideout. East Northside also forms part of the wider route network connecting All Foods, Longshore North, the Northside roads and the eastern approaches towards Kabuki.

Boundaries and hierarchy

What East Northside includes

For practical exploration, East Northside means the eastern portion of Northside around:

This is a guide boundary rather than a game-defined one. The in-game map does not present a labelled “East Northside” region with its own border.

What it does not include

The following places are nearby or connected, but should not automatically be folded into East Northside:

Northside is one of Watson’s recognised subdistricts, alongside Kabuki, Little China and Arasaka Waterfront.

Terminology warning

The safest way to identify the intended location is to use the fast-travel name NID: East and the surrounding Northside map markers.

Geography and atmosphere

East Northside is defined by industrial infrastructure rather than residential identity. Large buildings occupy most of the usable land, while roads cut between walls, loading areas and fenced compounds. The district’s visual language is rusted metal, concrete, exposed pipework, security barriers, cargo containers and huge factory silhouettes.

The area feels less like a functioning industrial estate than a zone being slowly reclaimed by gangs, scavengers and informal commerce. The surviving industrial network creates cover for ambushes and makes the streets appear deceptively open. A player can often see a destination from the road but still need to approach it through a yard, side entrance or elevated ramp.

The east side of Northside is also a useful transition zone. Travelling south-east brings the player closer to Kabuki’s denser streets and markets. Travelling west and north leads through the wider factory and dock network. Travelling out towards the northern roads eventually connects with the Badlands, although the Badlands are outside the scope of this guide.

Major places

All Foods

All Foods is the most important named location associated with Northside. It is a former food-processing factory that has been abandoned and repurposed as a major Maelstrom base. The building is associated with the main job The Pickup, making it one of the earliest significant hostile interiors available to V.

During the mission, V enters the factory to obtain the Flathead from Maelstrom. The approach can vary according to dialogue, payment and the player’s decision involving Royce. The mission may involve combat, negotiation or a mixture of both. The interior is therefore not simply a permanent open-world dungeon. Its most important access state is tied to the main job.

Status: Mission location, hostile compound and exploration site. Primary story connection: The Pickup. Faction: Maelstrom. Missability: The main mission state is progression-dependent. The exact sequence of encounters and the fate of key Maelstrom figures depend on player choices.

Cargo Bay

The Cargo Bay is a scavenger-run market using old transport containers and improvised stalls. It represents a different side of Northside from All Foods. Instead of a gang headquarters or corporate facility, it is an informal marketplace operating in the gaps left by failed industry.

It is best treated as a named environmental landmark rather than assuming that every visible stall is a fully functional shop. The game’s location naming does not by itself guarantee a purchasable service, permanent vendor inventory or a separate quest hub.

Status: Named open-world landmark and scavenger marketplace. Services: Do not infer specific services from the name alone. Availability depends on the particular vendor or stall encountered. Factional character: Scavenger-controlled or scavenger-associated.

NID: East

NID: East is the principal navigation anchor for this guide. It is a fast-travel dataterm in Northside, positioned in the eastern part of the industrial district. Once discovered, it can be used as a travel destination after fast travel has been unlocked through early story progression.

Approach the terminal on foot or by vehicle and interact with it to add it to the fast-travel network. Fast travel points are discovered by proximity, and early in the game they become usable after the main job The Ride, according to fast-travel reference material.

Status: Functional fast-travel point. Requirement: Discover it; fast travel becomes available after the relevant early-game unlock. Practical use: Best starting point for clearing eastern Northside activities.

All Foods: All Foods matters for three reasons

  1. 01
It introduces the player to Maelstrom’s internal culture and violent chrome-heavy aesthetic.
  2. 02
It provides one of the game’s earliest substantial choices involving a gang, a corporation and V’s immediate objective.
  3. 03
Its state changes depending on how the player handles The Pickup.

Named directory: places and landmarks

The following names are verified in the researched Northside material and are relevant to the wider area. They are grouped to avoid treating every Northside landmark as part of East Northside proper.

Wider Northside, not automatically East Northside

Northside map references list these fast-travel locations as part of the same broad subdistrict, while map guides separately identify All Foods and Cargo Bay as notable places of interest.

Factions and ordinary residents

Maelstrom

Maelstrom is the dominant gang presence in Northside. Its members are heavily cybermodified, violent and closely associated with abandoned industrial spaces. All Foods is their principal stronghold in this part of the city.

In East Northside, Maelstrom’s presence is most visible through:

Maelstrom should not be treated as the only hostile group present. Northside activities can also involve scavengers, criminals, mercenaries and other gangs depending on the specific gig or Scanner Hustle.

Scavengers

Scavengers operate informal markets and criminal facilities throughout the industrial districts. Cargo Bay is the clearest named example associated with this activity. Their presence is more commercial and opportunistic than Maelstrom’s territorial gang identity, though the two groups can overlap in the same wider district.

Workers and civilians

The district’s ordinary population consists of industrial workers, vendors, squatters, scavengers, gang associates, street-level criminals and people moving through the freight roads. The game does not provide a reliable occupation label for every background NPC, so it is safer to describe them by observed role and location rather than assigning unsupported identities.

Roads and access

Arriving from central Watson

From Kabuki or Little China, follow the main roads north-west and then north towards the industrial belt. The transition is gradual rather than marked by a single gate. Buildings become larger, pedestrian traffic thins out and the road network becomes more suitable for freight vehicles.

Arriving from All Foods

The All Foods Plant fast-travel point is the most useful western approach. From there, drive or walk east along the industrial roads towards NID: East. This route is practical after completing or partially exploring The Pickup, although hostile activity can remain nearby depending on mission state.

Arriving from the waterfront

The Docks, Arasaka Waterfront North and Ebunike Docks provide access from the northern and north-western sides of Northside. These locations are separate from East Northside, but they are useful when planning a full Northside sweep.

Vehicle advice

Cars are useful for covering the long roads, but motorcycles are often easier to control around yards, barriers and narrow service lanes. On foot, keep the scanner active around compounds and stacked containers. The game frequently places climbable routes, side doors and loot behind industrial scenery rather than directly beside the road.

The Pickup

The Pickup is the defining story mission for East Northside because it takes V into All Foods. The objective is to acquire the Flathead from Maelstrom, but the mission also establishes the relationship between V, Jackie, Meredith Stout, the Maelstrom leadership and Militech.

Spoiler warning

The mission has meaningful variations. The outcome is influenced by:

The mission can produce different hostile encounters inside All Foods and can affect the fate or later availability of certain characters. Because these outcomes are central to the mission, players seeking every variation should make a manual save before entering the factory.

Practical route

The Pickup is not merely a combat clear. It is a branching story mission whose combat layout and faction outcome depend on the player’s decisions.

Practical route

  1. 01
    Save before approaching All Foods.
  2. 02
Speak with the Maelstrom representatives and inspect dialogue options carefully.
  3. 03
Decide whether to use Meredith Stout’s credchip.
  4. 04
Keep a second save before the confrontation with Royce.
  5. 05
Search the factory after the main objective, but do not assume every interior area remains permanently accessible in the same way after the mission.
  6. 06
Leave through the safest available route, checking side rooms for loot and terminals.

Regina Jones’s Northside activities

Regina Jones handles Watson’s fixer work. Northside’s gig list includes jobs such as:

These names are listed by Northside activity guides, but a gig’s start marker, destination and completion category can sometimes differ from the simple location where the player first receives or completes part of the job. Treat the in-game map and journal as the final authority for the current save.

Not all of these gigs should be assumed to occur within the narrow East Northside pocket. They belong to the wider Northside activity set.

Regina Jones’s Northside activities

NCPD Scanner Hustles

One documented Northside organised-crime activity, Vice Control, rewards a legendary Buzzsaw crafting specification from the main target. Another, Just Say No, can reward the Psalm 11:6 crafting specification. The Northside list also documents No License, No Problem, with rewards including Explosive Rounds, a legendary Unity crafting specification, a Sandevistan: Heatsink and a rare Monowire physical-damage item.

These rewards are tied to specific Scanner Hustles, not to East Northside as a general region. Their exact placement should be confirmed on the player’s map because scanner markers can be progression-dependent and some activities near district borders may be attributed inconsistently by external guides.

Scanner Hustle advice

Some activities can appear only after another event has been completed or after time has passed. External completion guides also warn that some gigs and hustles can be assigned to a neighbouring district when they occur near a boundary.

---

Scanner Hustle advice

  1. 01
Turn on the NCPD Scanner Hustle filter in the map.
  2. 02
Start with the markers closest to NID: East.
  3. 03
Loot the main target and all nearby containers before leaving.
  4. 04
Read shard entries and scan bodies, since some rewards are in caches rather than on the central enemy.
  5. 05
If a marker is missing, advance time, complete nearby gigs or check the same area after a related mission.

Enemies and hazards

Common enemies

Enemy placement is not always identical across every location because mission states, open-world activities and random encounters can overlap. A building used by a main mission should not be treated as a permanently fixed combat arena after the mission is complete.

Environmental hazards

Use cameras and quickhacks before entering compounds. In a stealth build, disable cameras first and use tagged enemies to identify patrol paths. In a close-combat build, identify a retreat route before starting a fight, especially around All Foods and large yards.

---

Exploration route

For a reliable first sweep of the area:

This route avoids repeatedly crossing the whole district and keeps the player close to useful fast-travel points.

---

Exploration route: steps

  1. 01
Start at NID: East. Walk around the terminal and inspect the surrounding streets, alleys and container stacks.
  2. 02
Move west towards All Foods Plant. Check for open-world icons and NCPD markers rather than assuming every hostile group is part of a quest.
  3. 03
Continue to All Foods. If The Pickup is active, make a save before entering. If it is complete, examine the exterior and any still-accessible spaces without assuming the full mission interior remains unchanged.
  4. 04
Follow the industrial roads towards Longshore North. This connects the eastern pocket with the wider northern Northside network.
  5. 05
Sweep marked activities. Clear NCPD Scanner Hustles and Regina’s gigs one at a time, looting each site fully.
  6. 06
Finish at the Northside waterfront or return to NID: East. Use Docks, Arasaka Waterfront North or Ebunike Docks for a separate waterfront sweep.

Lore and setting

East Northside illustrates one of Cyberpunk 2077’s recurring ideas: industrial infrastructure survives even when the economic system that created it has moved on. All Foods was once part of a corporate food-processing network, but by 2077 the building has become a gang fortress. Cargo Bay similarly shows commerce continuing through improvised containers and scavenged materials rather than through formal retail space.

The result is a district caught between industrial decline and criminal redevelopment. Maelstrom occupies the spaces left behind by corporations, while scavengers and informal traders turn abandoned logistics infrastructure into markets. The city has not become empty. It has become contested.

This atmosphere also distinguishes Northside from the other parts of Watson. Kabuki is crowded and commercial, Little China is more residential and mixed-use, and Arasaka Waterfront is shaped by shipping and corporate infrastructure. Northside’s defining identity is the industrial landscape and the power vacuum within it.
